A Message from the Superintendent

    Mr. Stover has lived in various states and countries, growing up as a military dependent and serving in the United States Air Force. After graduating from Bad Kreuznach American High School, West Germany in 1984, Mr. Stover enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving for 20 years in Airfield Management.  

    Following his retirement, he and his family moved to Coosa County to be close to his parents.  Mr. Stover began serving the students of Coosa County as Little League president and administrator of the Mentor Program for Coosa County Schools. He worked as a Lieutenant at the Coosa County Sheriff’s Office overseeing 911 and the Coosa County Corrections Facility while working on his Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education at the University of Montevallo. 

    Mr. Stover has been married for 33 years to Debi, who is also an educator. The Stover’s have two sons, Tyler and Trevor, who are both graduates of Central High School and who are both currently serving in the United States Air Force.  The Stover’s attend the Weogufka Family Worship Center.

    Mr. Stover taught in the general education, special education, and gifted classrooms while pursuing his Masters degree in Educational Leadership from Auburn University. Mr. Stover worked as an administrator at Central Middle School prior to the consolidation of the schools and continued his administration career at Central Elementary School. David also served as the head baseball coach, created the Central Honor Guard program, and served as the district safety and truancy officer. In January of 2021, Mr. Stover took office as the newly elected Superintendent of Education for Coosa County Schools where he currently serves the students, faculty, and community.

    David’s role as Superintendent of Education is to oversee the daily operations and the long range planning of Coosa County Schools, serving as the point person for all districts matters. His role as superintendent is to supervise school principals and district staff, work with school board members, and to manage fiscal operations.
